In response to recent Letters to the Editor that discussed the needs of Ocala/Marion County due to continued growth, several Ocala residents wrote in and shared their thoughts on the topic:
“I love Ocala, but every single time I have family and friends visit, they complain that there’s nothing here. My kids make us drive to other cities because the city is lacking and it has been lackluster for years now. What’s going on? Costco, Wholefoods, Ikea, Pollo Tropical: please come to Ocala,” says Ocala resident Kat Margo.
“City officials have to listen to the majority of young people, not the elderly. We, the young people, are the ones that take care of the elderly because they are old. We respect that, but it’s time we, the young people, have what we need in order to survive here which is good high paying jobs, affordable apartments, and good transportation to get around the city. There are no buses that run on the southwest side of Ocala or into Marion Oaks. In order for Marion County to grow, we need these developments,” says Noel Tulley, Ocala resident.
